In life before law school, Charles honorably served eleven years in
the United States Marine Corps and was an insurance agent for ten
years. Returning to college at the age of 36, Charles received a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics-Philosophy, magna cum laude,
from the University of New Mexico in December 1997. During law
school, Charles was a member of the 2000 National Moot Court
Team and the 2001 National Mock Trial Team., and is a member of
the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. Charles is a licensed pilot and
enjoys aviation. He spends his leisure time with his wife Kathi and
their two puppies, Tippy, a West Highland Terrier & Pepper, a Cairn
Terrier, along with their ever-growing brood of desert box turtles.
